i have a carbon filter in my fish tank, do i need the bubbles?

so i have a carbon filter in my fish tank. i think its a underground filter and the bubbles go to the top. i just changed the little carbon thing and now there are less bubbles coming out. do my fish need those bubbles?

If you only have an under gravel filter, I would get a air pump and a air stone and throw it in. If you have a hang on back type of filter also, you do not need and air pump. The filter creates surface agitation that allows oxygen into the water. The air bubbles themselves work on the same principle, they agitate the water surface.
